Hawtree


Hawtree is a family who has delivered three generations golf career architect: Frederick George Hawtree (died in 1955), his son Fred William Hawtree (died in 2000) and his grandson Martin G. Hawtree. The three generations of Hawtree have jointly worked on more than 750 projects. One of the jobs that all three Hawtrees have been working on is the Royal Birkdale Golf Club. Frederick George Hawtree

Fred Hawtree set up his own company in 1912 to design and apply golf courses. The first job he makes is Croham Hurst. In 1922 he worked with John Henry Taylor (1871-1963), five-fold winner of the Open (1894, 1895, 1900, 1909 and 1913). Together they design approximately 50 golf courses, including Addington Court, where their new office also comes. Fred W. Hawtree

In 1938, Fred W. is working with his father. After World War II, Taylor left the company, after which Hawtree & amp; Son is called. Since the war, the company's goal is no longer to create jobs, but especially to design them. In the fifties and sixties they designed many jobs in France and Belgium, and in the 1960s, many in Spain. In the seventies they are so famous that they are also taken to the United States, and to other European countries.

In the eighties, Fred W. retreated to research and write books. including: 'The Golf Course: Planning, Design, Construction and Management' in 1983. Martin G. Hawtree

In 1973, Martin Hawtree joined Fred W. in his company, and in 1979 he became a partner. In 1980, the company moved to Woodstock. If Fred W. left the company permanently in 1985, Martin continued. The name is changed to Hawtree Limited.

Changes to: Vilamoura in Portugal, Carnoustie in Scotland for the Open 2007, Royal Ostend in 2008.
