The European School of Molecular Medicine (SEMM) is a foundation dedicated to high education in biomedicine.
Established in 2001 through the ministerial decree of three ministries (Health, University and Scientific Research and Treasury), the European School of Molecular Medicine promotes training and research in emerging sectors of biomedicine such as genomics, molecular medicine, nanotechnology and bioethics . It also works in centers of excellence (Campus IFOM-IEO, CEINGE, CIMAINA, TIGEM, ICH Humanitas Clinical Institutes) and promotes the integration of basic research with clinical practice.
The school collaborates with the Italian university, specifically with the State University of Milan for doctoral programs in molecular oncology, computational biology, medical nanotechnology, philosophy and ethics in science and with the University of Naples Federico II for doctoral courses in human genetics and molecular oncology.
Research activities are carried out at the European Institute of Oncology (IEO), the FIRC Institute of Molecular Oncology (IFOM), the Filarete Foundation, the Center for Genomic Science of the Italian Institute of Technology, the CIMaINa Center for nanotechnology at the State of Milan, and TIGEM and CEINGE research centers in Naples.
