The Pius Rio is a small stream of the Apennines Bolognese, known for crossing the town of Marzabotto.
It is born from Mount Vignola, a mountain full of springs due to its high altitude (817 m) compared to the other surrounding, with the opposite side being the creek Lavino torrent, affluent of the Samoggia. It runs, with a fairly regular course, to the south-east and then reaches Marzabotto and then throws itself into the river Rhine after a journey of about 6.5 km. It has a regrettable, perennial and constant regime, it never gets dry in lean times unlike some nearby streams like Venola.
