Pei Yin (fl. 438) was a Chinese scholar. He was the compiler of the "Collected Explanation on the Shiji" (Shiji Jijiexu, 史記 集解 序), often shortened to Jijie (集解). That was an important comment on the Shiji, and is referred to as the "Three Teachers' Comments" (Sanjia Zhu, 三家 注), Pei Yin, Sima Zhen and Zhang Shoujie.
Pei Yin's comment on the Shiji is the most comprehensive of those three comments. He based on the Five Classes and on various philosophical works. He also used two older comments on the Shiji, the "History of Old History" (Gushi kao, 古史 考) of Qiao Zhou (譙 周, 199-270), and the Shiji Yinyi (史記 音 義), the comment of Xu Guang (徐 廣, 353-425). Like the comments of Sima Zhen and Zhang Shoujie, the Jijie is added to the Shiji since 1196. Literature
