Francesco Seratti

Born in Siena by an ancient Pontremolese family, descendant of Grand Duke Agostino Seratti, tax auditor of Siena, Francesco Seratti in 1768 was appointed secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs and subsequently the Council of State of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany.

Nominated Governor of Livorno, when he returned to Florence, became Prime Minister of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany from 1796 to 1798 under Ferdinand III of Tuscany.

With the temporary fall of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany by French hand, Francesco Seratti took refuge in Sicily at the court of the Bourbons where he was appointed Minister of Foreign Relations of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies.

In the second half of 1813, decided to return to Tuscany, embarked on a ship to Livorno, but attacked by a group of Tunisian pirates, the Seratti was enslaved by Bey of Tunis and led to Tunis where he died a few months later. Notemodify wikitesto Bibliografiamodifica wikitesto
