Flag fabric

Bandera canvas cushions with embroidery of the same name

The bandera canvas is a fabric of natural fibers (cotton or linen), with regular weft, the armor is a "small fancy" even if it is called canvas. Heavy and very durable fabric. It was very much used by the Piedmontese courts in the 18th century to create tapestries, bedspreads and other furnishing items for its endurance and indestructibility.

The colors in which it was produced and still produced are limited to white and écru, so in the nineteenth century it was used to decorate this raw cloth with elaborate floral embroideries, which then took their name from the fabric and are still known today as embroidery bandera.

The production of this fabric is disappearing, except for limited production at some minor weaving. An association that deals with the recovery of this traditional fabric is the Bandera Embroidery Association. Notemodify wikitesto Voices correlateemodify wikitesto Links externalize the wikitesto
