The Green Dike (Frisian: Griene Dyk) is a dike central in the Dutch province of Friesland. The dike is the eastern part of Hemdijk. In Sneek is the street that runs over the dike Groenedijk, the name changes to the Frisian equivalent, Griendyk.
The dike is broken down by lines in the direction of the villages in the Rauwerderhem: the Offingawierzijl, the Loengasterzijl, the Goengasterzijl, the Gausterzijl, the Sybrandabuorsterzijl, the Tersoalsterzijl and the Abbenwiersterzijl. In Sneek, the dike is the Oudvaart, on the site of the former Groendijksterzijl, here lies a closed loop. Also, this location also includes the Groendijkklooster.
The dike was built in the 12th century as a southeastern and southern dike around the Rauwerderhem. Below Sneek the dike joins the dike of the Scherhem. The dike had to protect the population from water from the Zuidwesthoek. In 1464 the dike broke through Offingawiersterzijl. Also in 1825 there was a breakthrough, which caused a large part of the Rauwerderhem to be under water. 53° 1′ 47″ NB, 5° 41′ 21″ OL
