Placoglobina


Placoglobin (homologue of the Catenine Range) is a cytoplasmic protein originally identified as a component of desmosomes, where it binds to Desmogleina I (belonging to the Caderine family).

Mainly functions of cell adhesion and signal transduction as part of the Caderine-Catenine complexes, located at the sites of anchor sites between actin filaments and adhaerentes maculae in epithelial cells.

Mutations of the coding genes for placoglobin are implicated in some cardiomyopathies, such as right arithmogenic ventricular cardiomyopathy. Notemodify wikitesto
