Attalus II (220-138 BC), nicknamed Philadelphus (who loves his brother), was King of Pergamon (from the Attalids) of 159 BC. until his death.

He was a younger son of Attalus I, and before 160 BC. he distinguished himself as a skilled military and diplomat, but especially as a particularly loyal servant of his brother Eumenes II, even though he had already been able to dispel them from 168, with the support of the Romans. In addition, he has been thanking his nickname. After he eventually succeeded his brother, he continued the politics of his immediate predecessors and played the role of watchdog for the Romans in the East. Thus, he supported and armed the pretendent Alexander Balas in battle to conquer the throne of the Seleucids on Demetrius I.
