The Venusberg is a Diestia hill in the municipality of Lummen, located in the Belgian province of Limburg.
This witness hill, located in Meldert, is located about 60 meters above sea level and was a sandbank of the Diestiaan Sea, which retreated 7 million years ago. The "mountain" thanks its name to the many friends on the hill. Already in 1665, Venderberch was spoken. The many prehistoric discoveries in the area make it clear that the Venus mountain was already a busy place in prehistory.
The hill is characterized by a unique landscape with a high ecological value. Holle roads lead up to the top. Next to the dry heath you will also find wet heath. The wet biotopes at that height are unique and originated by the impermeable iron sandstone 'torches' that sparked on the flanks. The summit of the Venusberg offers a wide panorama of the Black Beek Valley. The Nature Center Association has restored the heath.
In June 2008 a new hiking area was opened on and around the Venusberg. Externe link 51° 1′ NB, 5° 8′ OL
