Chaa Creek is a tributary of the Macal River, in the district of Cayo, in western Belize. One of Macal's official monitoring stations is located near the confluence with Chaa Creek. In the bed of the Chaa Creek there are many Mayan remains not yet brought to light. Early archaeological research in the area was conducted by Harvard University in 1997. Significant ceramics and other artifacts were found at the archaeological site of Chaa Creek, believed to be Xunantunich's satellite site. The Chaa Creek Nature Reserve is famous for birdwatching and other natural history studies. This hydrographic basin can be described as a limestone association of the Mayan Mountains hillsides.
