Manuel José Abad and Queipo

Manuel José Abad y Queipo (Santa María de Villarpedre, 1751 - Toledo, 1825) was a Catholic Catholic bishop.

Elected Bishop of Michoacán, Mexico, was recalled in Spain around 1814 by the Inquisition for his conciliatory and philanthropic attitude toward indigenous peoples.

Assumed after Ferdinand VII's intercession, in 1817 he was appointed Minister of Justice and Cults.

During the 1820 Revolution, he supported the decision to suppress the Inquisition.

In 1822 he was appointed by the bishop of Tortosa (without receiving the necessary approval from the Holy See) and a member of the provisional government junta. In 1823 he was dismissed and confined to a convent where he died two years later. / p> Notemodify wikitesto
