Stéphane Steeman

Stéphane Steeman in 1975

Stéphane Steeman (Etterbeek, January 15, 1933 - Fréjus, January 23, 2015) was a French-speaking Belgian humorist, son of the author Stanislas-André Steeman. He was famous by performances and radio programs.

Steeman profiled himself as a Belgian unitarian and even a royalist. He also took a reconciliation attitude between the two communities.

He was also a great Kuifjekenner and collector. He donated part of his collection to the Hergé widow with a view to a Hergé museum to be erected. This ended in Louvain-la-Neuve in 2009.

Stéphane Steeman was particularly active in the fight against smoking during the 70's of the 20th century. He gave lectures in schools, accompanied by a doctor (doctor), doctor Pollack (spelling insecure) and he showed (falsified?) X-rays of lungs filled with tar. There is little information available on the Internet, but there is a television report broadcast by the RTBF on March 7, 1975. Steeman died at his 82-year-old in his home in southern France after heart problems.
