Electron scattering is a process by which an electron is deflected from its original trajectory.
Electrons are charged particles that are affected by electromagnetic force. They are scattered by other charged particles interacting through Coulomb's electrostatic forces. Also, if there is a magnetic field, a moving electron will be deflected by Lorentz's strength. An extremely accurate description of electronic scattering, which includes quantum and relativistic aspects, is given by quantum electrodynamics.
