Luigi Raimondi


Luigi Raimondi (Acqui-Luserto, October 25, 1912 - Vatican City, June 24, 1975) was an Italian spiritual and cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church.

Raimondi visited the seminar of Acqui Terme, then studied at the Papal Lateran University and at the Papal Ecclesiastical Academy, the Diplomatic Training of the Holy See. He was dedicated to the priest on June 6, 1936. From 1938 to 1942 he was Secretary of the Apostolic Nuntiature in Guatemala. In 1939 he became the extraordinary Pope of the Pope. From 1942 to 1949 he was an auditor at the apostolic delegation in the United States. From 1949 to 1953 he worked for the internship in India. In 1951 he became the Esteem of His Holiness. In 1953, he worked as an ataflid for some time at the State Secretariat.

Pope Pius XII appointed him in 1953 to Titus Archbishop of Tarso and to Nuntius in Haiti and Apostolic Delegate for British and French West Indies. He received his bishop's dedication from Adeodato Giovanni Cardinal Piazza. In 1956 he was transferred to Mexico. Raiomondi took part in the Second Vatican Council. In 1967 he became an apostolic delegate in the United States.

Pope Paul VI created him cardinal in the consistory of March 5, 1973. Santi Biagio e Carlo ai Catinari became his title comedy. He was appointed as the prefect of the Congregation for the Holy and Zaligspreking processes. He died in 1975 due to a severe heart attack. He was buried in the family grave in Acqui Terme.
