The Soldier is a polder located near New Names. The polder is for the most part in Dutch territory; a smaller part is Belgian.
The polder was incorporated by the so-called Compagnie Blémont, in which a number of Ghent notables collaborated. These had received permission from the former Napoleonic government to polder all the sheds from the Braakman to Antwerp.
The polishing was completed in 1805, covering an area of 286 ha, of which 18 hectares are located in the Belgian area. At the beginning of the 20th century, the polder was owned by the Deens of Arenberg, and from about 1935 the property was owned by The Hague Administration and Investment Company "Den Eik". 51° 18′ 2″ NB, 4° 9′ 45″ OL
