Boconó's fault

Boconó's fault is an important seismogenic tectonic structure of Venezuela, present between Santo Domingo and La Grita.

The border between the Caribbean and South American plaques can be identified in a system of faults (Boconó, Morón, El Pilar and others) both emerging and masquerading along the southern edge of the Caribbean Sea in the northern part of Venezuela. They coil and translate the western sector of the Caribbean Mountain with a tectonic initiated probably already in the Upper Tertiary.
