BZZTôH

BZZTôH is a Dutch publishing company founded in The Hague on February 24, 1970. The company publishes approximately 100 to 120 books annually.

BZZTôH originally intended literary idealism, but became more and more a general publishing of public books over the years. The company focuses on gift cards and accessible esoterics, but also lists novels, thrillers, cookbooks, travel stories and current non-fiction.

Books published by BZZTôH from, among others, Mr. Max Moszkowicz, Drs. P, Ivo de Wijs, Dick Mol, Ngaio Marsh, Chaim Potok, Stephen Ambrose, Cees van der Pluijm (Paul Lemmens), Hilde van der Ploeg, Ben Holthuis, Paul Van Zummeren, Charl Schwietert and Chris Veraart. From 1973 to 2004, the publisher also published the literary magazine Bzzlletin.

The publishing house is named for the sound that makes the guillotine trap in its bustle and its arrival on the chopping block.

In May 2009 it became known that the publishing company was in financial trouble and had applied for bankruptcy. Sales decreased in such a way that the costs could not be paid anymore. The curator reported that there was a party who wanted to take over the trade name, inventory, fund and writers. This new publisher, 'BBNC publishers', started the reboot with four out of fourteen employees. BZZTôH remains a brand name.
