Kista (pronounced as: Sjiesta) is a district in the west of the municipality of Stockholm. The district belongs to the district of Rinkeby-Kista. In 2004 the district had 10,367 inhabitants. The district was an independent district until January 1, 2007, but then merged with the Rinkeby district to Rinkeby-Kista. Kista is considered the IT center of Sweden, and even as one of the IT centers of Europe.
The metro traces divides the neighborhood by two, where there are mostly houses in the west and operating in the east. The streets in Kista are named after persons and places in Iceland and Denmark. The name itself comes from a farm that is still there.
