Guy van Grinsven


Guy van Grinsven (Maastricht, January 6, 1949) is a Dutch photographer. He is the founder of "Studiopress" and works from his photo studio in Maastricht. He is also the television producer and presenter of the weekly program NIVEAU TV Magazine at the Limburg channel L1. He is also publisher of a magazine: "LEVEL BIZZ magazine euregio", which appears in the Euregio Maas-Rhine. He photographed in 2009 for the KRO, featuring as presenter Anita Witzier, the schedule for the program Blotgewoon, together with photographer Patricia Steur.

He started his career as a aircraft engineer at Fokker aircraft builder. Photographing was initially his hobby, but he already studied at the Dutch Fotovakschool. After completing this degree, he started working as a photographer and gained his experience in Amsterdam with several internationally working advertising photography studios. Prior to becoming a self-employed photographer in Maastricht, he worked as a photographer for the National Photographers Agency (NFP) for a period of 3 years, which was also Dutch correspondent of Associated Press. He, as a photographer for various media, often joined the royal family on state visits around the world.

Guy van Grinsven was the only Dutch photographer / cameraman on September 11, 2001, witnessing the attack at the World Trade Center in New York. His statues are frequently broadcast on television and published in numerous newspapers and magazines. In 2011, Van Grinsven returned to New York to make a new photo series according to the principle of "Dear-Photography" (old statues in new situations), bringing a contemporary New York image to past-present images, published among others in his own magazine LEVEL BiZZ Magazine.

From 2012, he has focused on making exclusive photo books about cities and their surroundings, especially in the Euregio Maas-Rhine. This is his birthplace that he has taken with great passion. The first (English) photo book appeared in autumn 2013 under the name All AROUND MAASTRICHT Vol1 and was sold out in no time so that a completely new book, part 2, appeared in 2015, under the same name All AROUND MAASTRICHT Vol2. as well as any commissioned photo books, among others, an internationally operating company ANTONIUS Vesselheads in Maasbracht.

Van Grinsven also makes television documentaries with a humanitarian, historical or cultural background. Known to be documentaries about World War II and Assistance projects such as those of the PIMMA Foundation in Guatemala and El Salvador and about the reconstruction of an orphanage in Port-au-Prince in Haiti after the earthquake in 2010.
