René Bonnet

René Bonnet (Vaumas, December 27, 1904 - at Épernay, January 13, 1983) was a French sports car builder. He built together with Charles Deutsch cars from 1936 with the name Deutsch et Bonnet in Champigny-sur-Marne. These cars were originally equipped with Citroën technology, later Panhard. In 1961, he continued the company without his companion as Automobiles René Bonnet and built the Renaé Bonnet Djet in Romorantin with Renault technology. In the absence of commercial success, Bonnet was in trouble. When Matra took over Bonnet's production in October 1964, he retired from the car brand.

René Bonnet was buried on January 13, 1983 by a car crash because of a heart attack and was buried at Champigny-sur-Marne. On April 10, 2005, a memory plaque was placed at Vaumas's birthplace.
