UNI EN 13031

Greenhouses: design and construction - Part 1: Greenhouses for commercially modified wikitesto production

Part 1 of this standard specifically addresses greenhouses for productive use where human presence is limited to authorized personnel. The other parts of this standard are in preparation and will be related to greenhouses where public access is permitted (such as for gardens and exhibition centers and small greenhouses).

The rule says the rules for structural calculation and construction of greenhouses for production. In particular, the standard specifies the principles and requirements for mechanical strength, stability, service and durability, regardless of materials, including foundations, for the professional production of plants and crops. Fire resistance is not dealt with in this legislation. It is based on the Eurocode 1 and its successor.

Additional information is included in the legislation to take account of particular requirements, functions and shapes that are specific to the greenhouses and which differentiate them from other ordinary buildings. Among these we recall the need to optimize the transmission of solar radiation to create and maintain an optimal environment for growing plants and crops, and yet the need to support the growing weight of plants. All of this has important implications in the form and structural calculation of greenhouses for commercial use. In particular, the standard provides specific information regarding load distribution and acceptance criteria for deformation and mounting tolerances. These are justified in contrast to what is foreseen for normal buildings, because human presence is restricted to only authorized personnel.
