Etienne Stautemas (3 July 1927 - 19 October 1998) was a Belgian politician and garden designer.

Etienne Stautemas obtained a degree ("A1") at the former horticultural school at Melle, Ghent, since 1995 part of the Ghent University. He was chairman of the then "Verbond Belgische Sierteelt" and later manager of the then National Department for Land and Horticultural Products (ndaltp), now the Flemish Center for Agro and Fisheries Marketing (Flame). Stautemas has experimented with a few smaller flower figures since the 1950s.

In 1965 he placed his first big flower carpet in his home town of Zottegem. He acquired a national and international reputation in the field of construction and design of flower carpets, first by designs for the Grand Place of Brussels, later also for Ghent, Antwerp, Cologne, Hamburg, Luxembourg, London, Paris, Vienna and Buenos Aires . Etienne Stautemas was also active in the Zottegem association life. He was the founder of the Macekliers association in 1960, active in the cultural field (stage, song ...).
