In Greek mythology, Cinosura (from the Greek "dog tail") was the name of a nymph who lived in Crete.

According to the myth, Cinosura, along with her companion Elice, was one of Zeus's mothers. Zeus's father, Crono, had decided to devour all of his children because an oracle had predicted death by one of them. Only Zeus was not devoured by his father, thanks to the help of Cinosura. To defeat the affair immediately, Crono tried to capture the two nymphs; but Zeus prevented him from transforming Cinosura into an extreme attempt to save his life in a constellation.

Prior to his disappearance, Cinosura gave his name to a location on the island where he lived. Bibliografiamodifica wikitesto Fontimodifica wikitesto Modernamodifica wikitesto Voices correlateemodify wikitesto
