Yeshe Tenbey Nyima

Yeshe Tenbey Nyima (1758-1773) was the third jabzandamba of Mongolia and the first of Tibetan descent. Yeshe Tenbey Nyima preekt in Jehol

In 1756, Chinese emperor Qianlong had decided to rule out any risk of an alliance between possible future Mongolian resistance and perhaps a charismatic native Mongolian jebtsundamba. As a result, future reincarnations would only be found in Tibet in the future.

He was born in one of the highest noble families in Kham. His mother was a princess from the royal house of Litang. After his recognition as reincarnation of Losang Tenbey Drönmey, he was first brought to Jehol to express his respect for Qianlong. Then he settled in Urga.

There was considerable resistance in the Mongolian lama to accept a reincarnation from Tibet. During his installation there was a rival, another incarnation of the second Jabsandamba, which had its seat in the southwest of the country. The Mongolian nobility could not directly express themselves against the selection of Yeshe Tenbey but submitted a petition to the emperor with the request that Yeshe Tenbey would not reside in Urga but in Dolon Nor in Inner Mongolia. That request was rejected.

Historians who published on this subject, therefore, assume that at the age of fifteen, they were murdered by a number of Mongolian llamas. This is also mentioned in the biography of the fifth jabzandamba.

After his death, there was again some expectation in the Khalkha Mongols that could be the next incarnation of Mongolian origin. On the basis of perceptions of perception, the Tibetan state mission announced in 1774 that the next reincarnation will be the expected child of the Mongolian Toesjeti Khan, currently pregnant. Some months later, child appears to be a girl.

As the fourth Jabzandamba, eventually, a cousin of the seventh dalai lama is selected.
