Cornerhouse is a building in the Duinoord district of The Hague. It is located on the north side of Meerdervoort Avenue with house number 209. Development Duinoord

The first part of Duinoord was developed since the late 19th century. Duinoord II was built around the turn of the century and was between Duinoord I and the Statenkwartier. Duinoord II was partially broken down for the Atlantic Wall during World War II. Duinoord III walked from the Avenue from Meerdervoort to Houtrust.

The Hague Banker Dr D.F. Scheurleer made a development plan which he submitted to the municipality in 1891 and that was slightly modified in 1892 by the NV Haagsche Bouwgrond Society Duinoord. Unlike the Willemspark, the streets rarely run parallel here. This led to the existence of strangely shaped parcels. On the corner between the Conradkade and the Reinkenstraat was searched for a corner solution. A competition was issued in 1928, in which the plan 'Kop op' of architect Jan Grijpma in Oosterbeek was first shared. The building was named Cornerhouse. Shops Cornerhouse was built in 1930 at the same time as a number of shops with top homes on the Conradkade. At the head was a department store. The shops at the Conradkade did not turn out and after a few years the shopping destination was changed to a residential area. Corner solution The floor plan of the building is the mirror image of the letter J. The long side is on the Conradkade and consists of low-rise apartments. The 'curling' is on the Avenue of Meerdervoort and the Reinkenstraat. Restaurants  On the ground floor there are two restaurants on the left and right of the entrance. The entrance to the left restaurant is at the Conradkade. In the past there was Bouwman restaurant and later Het Hot Steen. After that it was empty for a while, after which D-light opened a restaurant. The atmosphere changed, the lighting was in bright colors and the existence of the restaurant was short-lived. In May 2011 De Stoof was opened and the old atmosphere of a brown cafe came back, including brown Thonet bar stools. The entrance to the Thai restaurant De Sissende Sampan is right next to the main entrance of the building. Panoramaflat  For a long time, Cornerhouse was the tallest building in the area. In 1962, on the other side of the Avenue of Meerdervoort, the Panoramaflat was built, a design by architect Piet Zanstra in modern, functionalist style. 52° 4′ 51″ NB, 4° 17′ 1″ OL
