Jean-Philippe Gatien (Alès, October 16, 1968) is a former French table tennis player. He became the world champion in 1993 by defeating in the final Jean-Michel Saive. Gatiens sports highlights include a golden (1997, in Eindhoven) and four bronze medals (1995, 1996, 1999, 2000) on the Europa Top-12. In 1994 he won the World Cup in Taipei. Gatien took a silver medal at the 1992 Summer Olympics, where he finished in the final loss of Jan-Ove Waldner (3-0). At the 2000 Summer Olympics 2000 he teamed up with Patrick Chila to a bronze medal in the doubles. Together they won the European title in doubles in 2000, which he won for two years in the mixed double with Wang Xiaoming. He became France's thirteen-time champion.
