Our American Cousin


Our American Cousin is a comedy in three acts by Tom Taylor. Work is a farce whose plot is based on the presentation to British aristocratic relatives, a rough and rude American man. The first performance was given to the Laura Keene's Theater in New York City on October 15, 1858. The comedy covers the adventures of an American, Asa Trenchard, played in the first representation by Joseph Jefferson, who goes to England to claim family property.
