Phoronis psammophila

Phoronis psammophila is a species in the taxonomic classification of the Phoronida (horseshoe worms). This worm has a plump elongated body with a backrest protruding that acts as an anchor with which the animal locks in its sleeve or corridor. A short lip is hanging over the mouth, the epistomy, and is surrounded by a horseshoe-like lofophore with numerous long-tipped tentacles. The worm's intestine is U-shaped.

The worm is from the genus Phoronis. Phoronis psammophila was discovered by Cori in 1889.
