Brigitte Engerer (Tunis, October 27, 1952 - Paris, June 23, 2012) was a French pianist.
She started playing piano games at the age of five and studied at the Conservatoire de Paris in the class of Lucette Descaves, where she won her first music prize in 1968, the prize of the piano, the premiere nommée à l'unanimité, at the age of fifteen. In 1969 she was awarded a laureate at the Concours International Marguerite Long-Jacques Thibaud, who received an invitation to study at the Moscow Conservatory in the classroom of Stanislas Neuhaus, where she stayed for 9 years.
In 1980 Herbert von Karajan invited her to play in Berlin, which meant a big leap in her career. By the end of her life, Engerer frequently performed and lectured in Paris at the conservatory.
She was married to the writer Yann Queffélec and had a daughter. Her discography lists many CDs. Engers died in 2012 at the age of 59 to the effects of cancer.
