Miguel Gil Moreno de Mora (Barcelona, June 21, 1967 - Sierra Leone, May 24, 2000), was a Spanish cameraman and war correspondent. With his work he won some journalistic prizes. In 1998 he won the Rory Peck Prize and in 2000 he was declared a cameraman by the British Royal Television Society for his work in Serbia.
Gil Moreno de Mora was born second of four sons. He studied law at the University of Barcelona and specialized in company law. However, in the 1990s he ended his work in the law, to change his life. He left the engine to Bosnia and defeated the Bosnian War for the newspaper El Mundo and the radio broadcaster Cadena SER. In 1995 he joined Associated Press.
In 1999, Gil Moreno de Mora was one of the few Western journalists who reported from the war in Kosovo. By himself, he experienced the most dangerous moments of his career in Grozny. Also there he was one of the few Western journalists present during fighting.
Gil Moreno de Mora and his colleague Kurt Schork died on May 24, 2000, during a battle in Sierra Leone. His friends and relatives called for an International Miguel Gil Moreno Prize, which has been awarded to journalists in conflict areas since 2002. Externe link
