Giuseppe Carrieri

Giuseppe Carrieri (San Pietro in Guarano, 1886 - 1968) was an Italian poet, lawyer and journalist.

At the beginning of his poetic activity collaborated in the journal "Poetry" of Marinetti, of which he became a friend, and also sang the war and the victory; but his futuristic compositions mostly had notes of romance. After a long creative silence, in 1950 he returned to poetry with features that expressed melancholy approaching decadence and crepuscularism. His best silloge is Air in October, in which he also speaks of the fallen swarms from the bell of Rovereto, of the Italian flag ("It is the flag of Patria, / passion that ascents in light blends: / what a sol name names the hearts of the lame. / The light of life has the name: "ITALY"!) and its corregians ("Patient people of my Calabria, where faith is unrefined grain," where the evening sows hopes , / for the new day, / even on the bitterness of the peaks "). He also wrote songs and cared for anthologies.

He was distinct, calm, moderate. He was translated abroad and received several prestigious awards (including "Matese", "Golden Pen of the Literary Convent", "City of Cosenza" and "City of Palermo"). He was president of the Accademia Cosentina, as well as the civic library.

In recognition of his merits, the main square of his native country is his title. Operemodifica wikitesto Bibliografiamodifica wikitesto
