Jacob van der Schuere

Jacob van der Schuere

Jacob van der Schuere (Menen, 1576 - after 1643) was a prose writer, poet, grammarist and schoolmaster in Haarlem. Van der Schuere was a member of the Flemish governor's chamber The White Angels for Flemish immigrants in Haarlem. Van der Schuere belonged to the permanent circle of the painter Carel van Mander.

In 1610, his collector's chamber compiled the compiled collection bundle Den Nederduitschen Helicon, which was still designed by Van Mander. He also translated Ovidius's Tristia ("Treurzangen"), a collection of autobiographical elegances about Ovidius's circumstances when he was in exile.

In 1612, Schueres Nederduytsche came out spelling out. In this he makes various proposals for the Dutch spelling. In these theories, Schuere makes known as a language purist. Externe link
