Serdab

Djoser Ka's statue visible through the serdab hole, ready to receive the soul of the deceased and the offerings destined for it.

The serdab (cell in Arabic) is a structure in the tombs of Ancient Egypt consisting of a room dedicated to the statue depicting the Ka, or "vital spirit" of the deceased.

During the Old Kingdom serdab consisted of a sealed chamber with a hole or small slot that allowed the soul of the deceased to move freely.

These holes also allowed the introduction of bids. Bibliografiamodifica wikitesto
