Wim Lakenberg

Wilhelmus Albertus Theodorus Lakenberg (Sneek, April 9, 1921 - May 19, 1991) was a Dutch football player who acted as an attacker.

Lakenberg was born in Friesland and moved to Nijmegen at the age of eight. There he became a member of N.E.C. and debuted in the 1936/37 season at the age of fifteen in the first half. With N.E.C. became champion in first class east in 1939, 1946 and 1947.

Lakenberg was the first player of N.E.C. who took the Dutch soccer team. In 1946 he was backed up and in April 1947 he played his only interland against Belgium. After that he would be four times a reserve.

In 1948, Lakenberg went to FC Blauw-Wit Amsterdam from where he became the second Dutchman, after Faas Wilkes, the transfer to paid football in Italy to Pro Patria Calcio. In the 1951/52 season he played at FC Lugano in Switzerland.

Lakenberg was not allowed to play football in the Netherlands until the introduction of paid football in the Netherlands in 1954. In 1954 he played for DIO '30 from Druten. At the end of December 1954 he returned to N.E.C. where he ended his career in 1960. He became a trainer in the amateur football and trained among others RKVV Nijmeegse Boys and Roda '28 from Winssen. Also see
