The Bara Katra is a historic palace in the city of Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. The palace was built during the Moegoel dynasty in the 17th century. The building is located south of the Chawak bazaar, close to the northern side of the Buriganga River.

The Bara Katra was built between 1644 and 1646 as the official residence of Prince Shah Shuja, the second son of Emperor Shan Jahan. Originally the palace was built around a courtyard, with 22 rooms on each of the four sides. There were two gates, on the north and south sides. At the ruins there is a building in front of the river. On the south side was a three-story passage high, with a central octagonal room. The rest of the building had two floors and was protected by several octagonal towers.

Over half of the palace has disappeared over time due to negligent maintenance. The existing buildings are in poor condition. The Bengali government has been unable to do anything, especially because current owners oppose it. They have added different elements that affect the original character of the complex.
