Dutch Arbitration Institute

The Dutch Arbitration Institute (NAI) is a Dutch foundation founded on June 22, 1949, which aims to promote alternative forms of dispute mediation and resolution, such as arbitration, binding advice and mediation. The foundation has extensive general governance with well-known names representing a broad legal field, a day-to-day management of three lawyers and employing ten employees.

The NAI is engaged in actual mediation and administers binding advice (based on the Arbitration Convention 2014). To this end, she regularly publishes regulations that should assist alternative mediation, and ensure a clear process in procedures at the NAI. In its activities, the foundation focuses primarily on companies, although individuals may also be entitled to it.

On June 22, 1949, the foundation was founded under the name of the Dutch-American Trade Arbitrage Foundation, which indicates an initial restriction in the target. But half a year later, on December 23, the name was already changed to the current Foundation of the Netherlands Arbitration Institute, and everyone could join the institute.

The institute works both in Dutch and in English; The institute also works a lot with international arbitrage. In 2013, the percentage of international arbitrations was 43%. Externe link
