Maybe Monday

Maybe Monday is an American electro-acoustic improvisation trio, composed of multi-instrumentalist and composer Fred Frith, saxophonist Larry Ochs (co-founder of Rova Saxophone Quartet) and koto player Miya Masaoko (also electronics). Their music is described as "a delicate mix of electrical and acoustic music, ethnic and urban, tradition and experiment."

The trio was formed in San Francisco in March 1997, where it played in the Great American Music Hall. Then the group went to the West Coast and Chicago, where recordings were made that appeared on the first album. In 2001, the trio was enhanced with cellist Joan Jeanrenaud and became a concert in Oakland, where Frith teaches Mills College, recorded for the second CD. The original trio went to Europe in 2003 (France, Germany and Belgium). The ensemble performed in New York for the first time in November 2006, with guest musicians Ikue Mori (electronics), Zeena Parkins (harp), Carla Kihlstedt (violin) and Gerry Hemingway (percussion). With them, Maybe Monday took his first studio CD the same month. Discography
