Themaheerdt

The theme is on the Oudedijk in Pieterburen

The Themaheerdt is a monumental farm on the Oudedijk in Pieterburen in the Dutch province of Groningen. Description

The Themaheerdt is a head-neck rump type villagery. The farmhouse was built in 1925 by the Leeuwarder architect Piet de Vries. He designed the farm in the midst of the Amsterdam School. The living area (the head) on the west side is connected to a lower part (the neck) with the large farmhouse (the hull) on the east side. Characteristic of the house is the use of brick, geometric patterns and symmetry.

In the interior many Art decomotives are processed. The farm has been recognized as a national monument as an example of the early work of the architect De Vries and because of its generosity, its expressive design, its characteristic location and an example of the prosperity of the farming community during the period in which this farm was built. < / p>

Before the construction of this farm, there was a Themaheerdt, which included Klaas Klaassen Theme, who died in 1819, and his son-in-law, Pieter Jannes Torringa. 53° 24′ 21″ NB, 6° 27′ 49″ OL
