Erich Thienhaus


Erich Thienhaus (Lübeck, 1909 - Detmold, 1968) was a German Akoeseus.

Erich Thienhaus obtained his degree in Physics and Physics in 1932. He then studied the sound of musical instruments. He followed classes in organ with his brother-in-law Hugo Distler. He studied the sound of German organs from Baroque. In 1935 he studied in Berlin. In 1943 he developed the long-playing record. He examined the sound of 300 church bells. He taught at the Berlin High School for music.

On October 1, 1946, he became a lecturer of acoustics and instrumentation at the Detmold music school. He founded an institute of music and acoustics that is now called Erich-Thienhaus-Institut.
