International Federation of Filmmaking Archives

The International Film Archive Association (FIAF) was founded in Paris in 1938 by the British Film Institute, New York MoMA, Cinémathèque française and Reichsfilmarchiv.

The FIAF brings together the world's leading institutions in the field of conservation and enhancement of cinematic heritage. Its affiliates are the defenders of this twentieth century art form. The FIAF affiliated archives are dedicated to the collection, retrieval, preservation and projection of films, which are considered as both works of art and culture as well as historical documents. The Federation now embraces more than 150 institutions in more than 77 countries - a reflection of how conservation of the moving image heritage has become a worldwide concern.
