Martha Brickman


Martha Brickman (circa 1949) is a Canadian clover club player. Lifecycle

Brickman initially studied piano and hobo. Moving to Rome, she studied claustrophobia at Feruccio Vignanelli and completed that study at Kenneth Gilbert at the Montreal Conservatory (Canada).

She achieved different prizes

Returning to Canada, she taught at the Conservatory and at Laval University in Montreal and between at the Conservatory of Santa Cecilia in Rome, Italy. Since 1987 she established herself in Vancouver where she studied at the Vancouver Academy of Music. She also gave her master courses annually on the authentic performing practice of Old Music.

She has performed in Canada, the United States and Europe and made some recordings, mostly with Kenneth Gilbert in whose shadow she has remained a little. Her recordings include an implementation of the Goldberg Variations (BWV 988).

She has played for Vancouver's Masterpiece Music, Early Music Vancouver, UBC's Noon-Hour Concerts, Douglas College's Noon-Hour Concerts, CBC's Arts National and Westcoast Performance. She has collaborated with the famous recorder player Horacio Franco in Mexico City. She has formed Trio Amalie since 2004 with the cellist Laura Kramer and the violinist Jenny Essers.
