SK Rusj Oezjhorod

SK Rusj Oezjhorod (Ukrainian: СК РУСЬ Ужгород) was a Russian football club from Oezjhorod, which was in Czechoslovakia and belongs to Ukraine today.

The club was founded in 1925 and played from 1928 in the championship of Eastern Slovakia and Karpato-Ukraine (Podkarpatská Rus or Karpato-Ukraine). In 1929 and 1933 the club became champion and in 1933 the DFC Prague Czechoslovakian Amateur Championship lost its first round.

In 1936, the club qualified as champion of Slovakia after wins on SK Baťa Zlín, SK Hradec Králové and Viktoria Žižkov for the then professional First Class of Czechoslovakia. In the 1936/37 season there was only three wins and Rusj Oezjhorod declined. Due to distant distances, the club had to fly to most matches and because nine teachers played in the team, it got the nickname of the flying teachers.

After the end of 1938, at the beginning of the Second World War, Karpato-Roethenia was dismissed from Czechoslovakia, the club ceased to exist. In 1946 the new club Spartak Oezjhorod was founded in the city.

A well-known player was Alexa Bokšay who later played at Slavia Prague and was a Czech coach's coach. Results
