Amidasi

Amidases are a family of enzymes belonging to the class of hydrolysates capable of specifically hydrolyzing the amide bond. Like esters and carbamylases, amidases play a very important role in the detoxification of xenobiotic substances introduced into the body. Amidases also play a key role in the digestion of protein introduced by nutrition, since the amidase family is part of protease and peptidase. The amidase-catalyzed reaction, being an hydrolysis, involves the introduction of a water molecule to break the amide bond:

R-CO-NR'R'' + H2O → R-COOH + HNR'R''
