Queen Victoria Jubilee Medal

Queen Victoria's Jubilee Medal was a commemorative celebration for the 60th anniversary of Queen Victoria's crowning. Describe the wikitesto modification

The medal consisted of a gold, silver or bronze disc, depicting on the right the "old" effigy between Queen Victoria with a veil in a widowed dress surrounded by the inscription: VICTORIA ANNVM REGNI SEXAGESIMVM FELICITER CLAVDIT XX IVN MDCCCXCVII. On the back was the portrait of Queen Victoria's "young" profile, under which there were laurel branches with the indication 1837, when it was ascended to the throne. The effigy was surrounded by the inscription: LONGITVDO DIERVM IN DEXTERA EIVS ET IN LEFT GLORIA. Some medals were topped by a small gold crown that united the medal to the ribbon.

Of these medals were also made larger productions in the form of medallions of 56 mm diameter in gold, silver or bronze but they did not have ribbon.

The ribbon was blue with two white stripes on the sides. Links externalize the wikitesto
