British Medical Journal

The British Medical Journal, dubbed BMJ, is a medical journal published weekly in the UK by the British Medical Association (BMA). The current editor, Fiona Godlee, has covered this post in February 2005, succeeding former editor-in-chief Richard Smith.

BMJ stands out from other medical and academic journals as it also carries out the role of internal publication of the British Medical Association, as well as the publication for advanced medical research. It publishes news, research articles, educational articles, obituaries, reviews, fillers, anecdotes, and career stories worthy of attention.

It is generally considered to be one of the four most authoritative generalist medical journals, along with the New England Journal of Medicine, The Lancet and Journal of the American Medical Association.

In the recent past all the BMJ content was freely accessible online; but recently (2005) a subscription access model has been introduced: search items and all abstracts continue to be available, but the rest of the material, such as clinical reviews and editorials, is only available to subscribers. Restrictions cease after one year of publication. Other designers wikitesto
