Jacob Meursing (Buinen, 4 July 1823 - Nieuw-Buinen, 16 April 1888) was a Dutch glass manufacturer. He was the first director of the Nieuw-Buiner glass factory founded by his father, the company Meursing & amp; Co. Life and work

Meursing was born in Buinen in 1823 as the son of the farmer and distant Jan Meursing and of Jantien Dilling. In 1845 he became the first director of the glass factory in Nieuw-Buinen, founded by his father. The factory was initially called Mulder, Heinz & amp; Comp., But in 1846 it was renamed Meursing & amp; Co. Both co-founders of the company Johann Georg Christoph Heinz and Georg Frederik Mulder were appointed as the boss of the glassblowers and the boss of the pot makers. Heinz and Mulder resigned from dissatisfaction at the other glass factory in Nieuw-Buinen, which was led by Johann Christian Anton Thöne. Jacob Meursing became director of the new company. His commercial and financial skills ensured that the company in Nieuw-Buinen would become an important employer in the peat colonies in Drenthe. Meursing produced a lot of glassware, which was exported to the Dutch East Indies. The company would continue to bear its name, even after Meursing had died. In 1938 the name Meursing disappeared as a company name when the company was bought by the Vereenigde Glasfabrieken from Schiedam.

The business in Nieuw Buinen flourished for both manufacturers, Thöne and Meursing. They each had a luxurious country house built in Nieuw-Buinen. Meursing married on 8 March 1849 in Borger with Henderika Lussingh Wigcheringh. Like his father, he was also Borger's municipal receiver. Meursing died in 1888 in his hometown Nieuw-Buinen at the age of 64. His son Hendrik was in charge of the company. His daughter Jantina Arendina Meursing, together with her husband Harm Maarsingh, had the monumental villa Huize Ter Marse built in Stadskanaal.
