Pieter Kalbfleisch

Pieter Kalbfleisch (Haarlem, January 11, 1947) is a Dutch lawyer.

Kalbfleisch studied Dutch Law at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam. After his studies, he settled in 1972 as a lawyer in Arnhem. In 1980 he was appointed judge in Haarlem. In 1986 he became vice president of the court in The Hague. Since 2003 he has been employed by the Dutch Competition Authority (NMa), first as Director General and from 2005 as Chairman of the Board.

In 2011, he was accused of committing injured in the Chipsholzaak. Kalbfleisch has for an indefinite period taken leave as chairman of the NMa Board of Directors to release his hands to defend himself against this accusation. His position at the NMa was temporarily perceived by Henk Don. Persecution due to perjury and falsehood in writing

In February 2012, it became known that the Public Prosecutor (OM) decided to prosecute him together with Hans Westenberg (at that time also in The Hague) for allegedly injured in the Chipsholzaak. In March 2012, he appears to have received a sum of 325,000 euros at the time of the departure of the NMa. Minister Verhagen expresses his dissatisfaction with this, but the ongoing prosecution is not a reason to undo this. Kalbfleisch was released both by the Utrecht court and in appeal by the Arnhem-Leeuwarden Court of Justice.
