Yu Dan (writer)


Yu Dan (Beijing, June 28, 1965) is a Chinese woman who works as a professor at Beijing Normal University. She is also the assistant of the dean of the faculty of art and media. She is also head of the department of film and television.

Ms. Yu is famous for her lectures on the Analects of Confucius at the end of 2006 on the Chinese state television China Central Television. The English name of the series was called "Yu Dan's Insights into the Analects", the Chinese name was 于 丹 "论语" 心得. And was broadcast by the Lecture Room program ("百家 讲坛"). The viewers were very excited about the program, and thus wrote the book "Yu Dan's Notes on the Analects", which brought about 10,000 sales on the first day. In 40 days even the number of 1.5 million was reached. Since 2007, the book is on the bestseller list. In her lectures on the main writings of the Confucius followers, Ms Yu tells about the important essence of Confucian standards and values ​​in today's Chinese society. In this regard, she mainly explains what one has at present to philosopher Confucius's mind.

In the spring of 2007, her book featured the thoughts of the daoist philosopher Zhuangzi.

Her books on ancient Chinese philosophy have given a great deal of Chinese experience to many Chinese people.
