Tampere's ice rink langs de buitenkant
Tampere jäähalli is an ice cave in the Finnish city of Tampere. It is home to ice hockey clubs Ilves and Tappara, both of which come out of the SM-liiga and are used mainly for ice hockey. It is the oldest covered ice cave in Finland. Although the hall is mainly used for ice hockey, artists often come up with regular performances. Some examples include: Iron Maiden, Slipknot, Slayer and Deep Purple. History The ice rink
In 1965, the world championship of ice hockey was held in Finland. Originally this would be held in Helsinki, but due to financial problems the construction of an ice hockey hall was impossible. That's why we went to Tampere, where Finland's first covered ice cave was built. An additional advantage was that this hall could also be used by the two ice hockey clubs in Tampere, Ilves and Tappara, who practiced on an off-road and played matches. The first match in the new ice hockey was an all-star match between Tampere and the rest of Finland. The first official competition match (in the SM-sarja) was played on January 31, 1965, in which townspeople Tappara and Ilves stood opposite each other. Ilves won with 5-3. Building
Initially, the Tampereen jäähalli gave place to approximately 10,000 people, of which only 1500 were seats. In 2001 the hall (partly) was renovated, reducing the number of places to 7800. In 2009 the hall was refurbished to obtain the current number of places of 7600 (including 6400 seats). The hall is also often called Häkämetsän jäähalli of Häkämetsä 1 to distinguish between the various icebergs in Tampere. Externe link 61° 29′ 45″ NB, 23° 49′ 28″ OL
